In the Transformers (TF) universe, there's one vehicle that  mainly embodies the evil Decepticons. The fighter jet. To put it short, there's more than one. By which I mean, loads! Mainly in small part that most of them are basic repaints of the Starscream toy. Saves time on animation and manufacturing toys. Any transfan worth their salt will more than familiar with the initial three "seekers": Skywarp, Thundercracker and their leader, Starscream. Slightly less know are the second tier jets. Or as the transformers fandom has called them, the "coneheads", on account of their nosecone shaped heads in the original Generation 1 (G1) cartoon series. Problem was the G1 toy weren't made to resemble the conehead look parse. And thus leaving the nosecone up on your G1 Dirge, Ramjet or Thrust made them look somewhat like a sex toy. Thankfully when Hasbro and Takara decided upon modern updates of classic TF characters with the Classics/Henkei toy line transfans knew that after the release of Starscream, the other jets wouldn't be far behind. But things are never that easy in any fandom. Although new toys were made of the coneheads (with a far more cartoon accurate aesthetic), apart from Ramjet, they were only released in very limited numbers. But thanks to the new "Generations" line we have a chance to load or shelves (and lighten our wallets) with the release of Generations Thrust!

Very much in reference to his G1 toy (and like all previous Classics/Hekei seeker jets) Generations Thrust is a robot that transformers in a F-15 strike eagle (or sorts) with VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) turbines attached to the wings. Which are quite impressive. Very G1 accurate, but not oversized and can be removed and be pegged into the tail fins instead of the wings. Also, the rotors on the VTOL can also revolve. A pretty extraneous feature, but a nice little touch regardless. Another nice touch that should be noted (especially if you're unfamiliar to the Classics/Henkei seeker mould) is that the front landing gear wheels flip inwards into the chest vents of the robot. Thus giving Thrust more of a comic look. Again. nothing major, but a nice little detail that adds to the overall look of the toy. However, one major thing that detracts from the look of the toy -especially in robot mode- are the missile launchers. They're just too damn big! They jut out beyond the top of the arm, so will move the wings back when you pose the arms forward. Also the missiles are not the prettiest ever made. Fair enough if the launchers and projectiles have to be of a certain size so some oxygen starved, morbidly obese walking abortion in the Heartland of American doesn't choke to death on it, because they thought it was a stale twiglet. But why couldn't they have given Thrust the more sleeker missiles that came with the Classics/Henkei Ramjet.

Another issue is more of a personal bone of contention. Unlike the other seekers in the Classics/Henkei line, Thrusts eyes are yellow like the original G1 toy as opposed to having cartoon accurate red eyes (because all baddies have red eyes, remember that) like previous seekers in the Classics/Henkei line. It's pedantic I know, but I assure you, it's far from the most retarded complaint someone ever made about Transformers. And for me, slightly offsets the excellent design of Thrust's robot mode. But it's nothing a little red acrylic can't fix. But the main problem with the robot mode is the posability. Thrust promises much articulation, but delivers very little. He comes with joints at the shoulder, elbow, knee and has ball joints at the hip. But because of the sizable missile launchers, the arms can do very little but slightly raise up or to the side without pushing the wings back. Especially with the VTOLs on. And because the foot can't tilt to the side (it only folds up for turning into jet-mode) posing the legs in anything other than standing straight will cause Thrust to fall over. Another problem are the VTOLs themselves. or rather the placement of them. The main wings are attached by a rather small joint that feels like it's going to give way when I push the VTOLs in. So I would advise against the constant removing and placing of them.

Overall, despite minor design niggles and slight discrepancies with the stiffness of the joints., Generations Thrust is a quality Transformer. If you're a long time G1 fan or new to TF fandom, this is a worthwhile purchase. Especially if you own the relatively easier to get Classics/Henkei Ramjet. Because as well as Thrust, the third conehead -Dirge- is also being released in the generations line. So get down the high street or online and have a big laugh at the people that paid a small fortune for the Gentei or Botcon exclusive Coneheads.
